The chromatographic behaviour of 15 mono- and disaccharides on silica layers eluted with low-viscosity eluents (acetone, dioxan) containing low amounts of water was investigated. Some of the mixtures were found to be suitable for the rapid thin layer chromatographic analysis of sugars (15-20 min for elution on 10 cm distance).
