Przedstawiono ogólną koncepcję pracy bezprzewodowych sieci mesh (Wireless Mesh Networks - WMNs), tj. sieci ad hoc z topologią złożoną (kratową) i z transmisją wieloetapową. Opisano podstawowe problemy projektowania i implementacji sieci WMN. Przedstawiono ogólne założenia nowego standardu IEEE 802.15.5 - WPAN Mesh. Skoncentrowano się przy tym na opisie i analizie bezprzewodowych sieci złożonych typu WPAN, realizowanych z wykorzystaniem techniki Bluetooth - BT (IEEE 802.15.1), Ultra Wideband - UWB (IEEE 802.15.3) oraz ZigBee (IEEE 802.15.4), podając też przykładowe scenariusze pracy. Zwrócono uwagę na zastosowania sieci WMN - IEEE 802.15. x jako sieci sensorowych i rozwiązań do komunikacji urządzeń elektroniki użytkowej.

In the paper a general idea of operation of Wireless Mesh Networks, i. e., ad hoc mesh networks with multihop transmissions was presented. Basic design and implementation problems were described. A general concept of WPAN Mesh networks, standardized by the Working Group IEEE 802.15.5 was presented. The main attention was concentrated however, on description and analysis of WMN solutions built with use of Bluetooth, Ultra Wideband and ZigBee technologies (i. e., IEEE 802.15.1 and IEEE 802.15.4, respectively), and presentation of example operational scenarios. Also real and potential areas of implementation of WMN - IEEE 802.15. x solutions, as sensor networks and for commercial consumer electronics purposes, were shown.
