The National Instruments CompactRIO is an advanced embedded control and data acquisition system designed for applications that require high performance and reliability. This modular system has many new features like open embedded architecture, small size, small power consumption, extreme ruggedness, and flexibility. CompactRIO combines an embedded real-time processor, a high-performance FPGA, and hot-swappable I/O modules. Each I/O module is connected directly to the FPGA, providing low-level customization of timing and I/O signal processing. Full functionality of modular power quality analyzer formerly developed for PCbased instrument has been transferred to CompactRIO platform. This solution represents new level of technology for very flexible, powerful and robust power quality monitoring systems. In comparison with PC-based Power Quality Analyzer brings CompactRIO smaller size, lower power consumption and wide temperature range. Together with SW redesign needed because of HW platform change was developed new user interface concept with many revolutionary features.
