In the paper, according to the title, there are presented the basic problems of energy and power engineering sector refereed to the all over the world scale as well as to the Polish conditions. There are taken into consideration the global consumption of all of the primary fuels and the other primary forms of energy and especially their utilization for electric energy production. The special attention is paid on the aspects which determine the development of the energy and power engineering sector.

W referacie, zgodnie z tytułem, przedstawiono główne problemy energetyczne w skali światowej oraz problemy te w odniesieniu do warunków polskich. Uwzględniono przy tym zarówno globalne zużycie wszystkich pierwotnych paliw i pierwotnych form energii, jak też ich wykorzystanie do produkcji energii elektrycznej. Zwrócono uwagę na czynniki determinujące rozwój sektora energetycznego oraz na pewne szczególne okoliczności często pomijane przy prognozowaniu rozwoju tego sektora oraz przy analizie wpływu instalacji energetycznych na środowisko. Przedstawiono także tabelarycznie porównanie różnych technologii wytwarzania energii elektrycznej.
