Abstrakty
In this contribution the weld toe region is modelled as a sharp V-notch and the intensity of asymptotic stress distributions are quantified by means of generalised stress intensity factors. When the V-notch opening angle is constant, mode I NSIF is used to summarise the fatigue strength of welded joints. Otherwise, the synthesis is carried out on the basis of the mean value of the strain energy density over a well-definite volume surrounding the weld toe or the weld root.
