Abstrakty
In this work the time-domain boundary element method (BEM) is applied to simulate the dynamic crack growth. The fast fracture is modeled by adding new boundary elements at the crack tip. The direction of crack growth is perpendicular to the direction of maximum circumferencial stress. The method is used to analyze a mixed-mode fracture in a three-point bend specimen. The dynamic stress intensity factors and the crack path are compared with the results given by the finite element method (FEM) and the experimental method.
