W rezultacie przeprowadzonych badań rynku i interakcji ze swoimi klientami, Lucent Technologies sformułował strategię, która umożliwia operatorom telekomunikacyjnym wykorzystanie wszystkich możliwych rodzajów technik dostępowych, zarówno stacjonarnych, jak i bezprzewodowych (DSL, 802.16, 802.11, CDMA, GSM/EDGE/UMTS, Ethernet, HFC, itd.), w celu dostarczania zintegrowanych usług multimedialnych nowej generacji.

In result of market research and customers interviews Lucent Technologies created the strategy, that enables telecommunication network operators to provide access agnostic, enhanced, converged, multimedia services. The services are controlled in the same manner in all wireless and wireline access methods (DSL, 802.16, 802.11, CDMA, GSM/EDGE/UMTS, Ethernet, HFC, etc.). The strategy is a base of Lucent Technologies Accelerate program that uses the IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) architecture as a foundation of Next Generation Network. IMS architecture is gainig common acceptance across service providers, telecommunication vendors and standardization bodies. The ublication describes IMS architecture and how it is implemented in Lucent Technologies solutions portfolio. Additionally some market trends leading to IMS concept acceptance was included.
