Monitoring of underground waters in the region of municipal waste yard of Jaworzno has been carried out each month from July 2000. Water samples are taken from piezometers localized in the region of municipal waste yard straightly to the eastern direction i.e. to the intake of Dobra river. Results of studies carried out in 2000-2002 showed that underground waters in the region of municipal waste yard in Jaworzno were characterized by electrolytic conductivity within the range 520 - 1150 mS/cm, reaction from 7.1 to 8.0 and total hardness from 320 to 550 mg CaCO3/dm3. The increased amounts of nitrate nitrogen and chlorides have also been observed what can be a result of the presence of the municipal waste yard. In piezometer P-l situated close to waste yard the mean concentration of nitrate nitrogen in water decreased during 22 months of monitoring by 1.5 mg/dm3 (13%), however it was high i.e. at the level of 11 mg/dm3. In piezometers P-2 and P-3 the concentrations of nitrogen nitrate in water were also lower (P-2 by 1.4 mg/dm3 and P-3 by 1.0 mg/dm3) but having respect to the lower level of pollution in water, the observed decrease was also substantial (P-2 by 17.7% and P-3 by 13.5%).
