The subject of the examination was sludge produced during mechanical and biological treatment of sewage from a municipal sewage treatment plant, meat processing plant, and a fruit and vegetable processing sewage treatment plant. The sludge samples underwent parasitological analyses 4 times: in the spring, summer autumn and winter of 2000. The number of parasite eggs was determined by Me Master method, and their species was identified for each sludge. The data obtained indicate that the material from the fruit and vegetable sewage treatment plant was the only one that remained free from alimentary tract parasites during the whole period of examination. The largest number of parasite eggs was present in municipal sludge I and meat sludge IV in summer and autumn. Analysis of the species composition of the parasites in both municipal sludges showed that eggs of Ascans lumbricoides occurred most frequently, less frequent were Toxocara cams. As regards tapeworms, the sludge concerned contained broad fish tapeworm Diphyllobothrium latum. In the sludge from the sewage treatment plants of both meat processing plants, there were protozoan cysts of alantidium coli living in the human and swine large intestine, as well as Eimeria debliecki oocysts. Moreover, among platyhel-minths, eggs of the trematodes Fasciola hepatica and Dicrocoelium dendriticum and eggs od Taenia saginata and Taenia spp. tapeworms were isolated. The sludge from both meat processing plants was characterized by frequent presence of eggs of Ascans lumbricoides; were also eggs of Ancylostoma nematoda recognized. As results from the individual researches, the applied technologies of waste treatment in case of elimination of parasites do not guarantee obtaining of sludge that is clean in respect of parasites.
