Numerical simulation of fluid flow can be widely used in water treatment processes. The uses where numerical simulation of fluid flow (CFD method) is applicable are reviewed. CFD software provides the users with information about fluid flow (velocity profile, pressure profile), heat transfer (temperature profile) and mass transfer (pollutants, chemical reactions, concentration profiles) in real water treatment systems by numerical solution of the momentum, energy and mass equations. The CFD method is very useful in the analysis of fluid flow machineries, in troubleshooting and parametric studies.
