Technological investigations into the choice of filter bed for effective surface water treatment
Języki publikacji
Abstrakty
Pilot-plant technological investigations were carried out with the aim to retrofit the existing treatment train for surface water. The treatment train under study involved continuous coagulation, sedimentation and filtration on single-layer sand beds or double-layer anthracite-sand beds of varying grain size distribution, particular consideration being given to the problem of how to obtain high-quality water after filtration. The investigations covered a time span which allowed the seasonal pattern of water quality variations to be examined. Turbidity (kept below 0.45 NTU) was adopted as the parameter that best characterized the quality of treated water. For the anticipated turbidity value which could not be exceeded an average duration of the filter cycle was established.
