Studies on lead (II) complexes with L-ascorbic acid by spectrophotometric method. Part 4. Heavy metals in the environment: determination of vitamin C and lead (II) levels in blood donors
Języki publikacji
Abstrakty
The general characteristics of lead (II) and L-ascorbic acid concerning their occurrence, use, physicochemical properties and biological significance have been described earlier [1]. In the second part of the paper, the studies on complex reactions (L-ascorbic acid was a ligand and lead (II) was a central ion), conditions of compound formation and red-ox reactions have been carried out and the stability constants [beta1] and [beta2] have been given. The third part comprised the results of initial experiments on laboratory animals i.e. rats [3], which aim was to find relations between vitamin C level and lead (II) concentration under environmental and professional hazard to lead (II). The fourth, the last part of the set, presents results of investigations carried out on blood serum (determination of vitamin C levels) and full blood (determination of lead (II) in blood donors - inhabitants of north-east region of Poland).
