EN

Poland's groundwater resources vary widely in quality,which calls for adeguate treatment methods. The paper gives a characterization of those waters and suggests some non-conventional methods of treating them.Thus,lime decarbonization was found to yeld quite good treatment effects.Treatment efficiency can be noticeably increased when coagulation is run direct in the filter bed.The use of a pyrolusite bed is recommendable not only because of iron and manganese removal.It provides additionally a decrease of ammonia nitrogen concentration. The paper also describes biological methods for the removal of nitrogen compounds,and provides data on relevant treatment train.
