Digested sludge coming from municipal serwage treatment plants was solidified,using various methods and materials,and then tested for its applicability to further uses. The solidified product was found to be safe in terms of sanitary standards and did not release objectinonable oaours. The solidification process provided blocking of heavy metals.The mixture of the sludge and the solidifying agent displayed alkaline properties,which are particularly helful in remedying sour soils.Vegetation tests showed that granular solidified sludge might be used for agricultural needs. It can also be of utility in the recultivation of landfills.
