Recently,many treatment technologies-including sewage treatment plants-have been offered by a vareiety of specjalized companies.The existing methods of selection are not good enough to provide an optimum choice in every instance.Our analysis showed that the"premium system method" was a workable one.The method was tested in the commune of Mieroszów,a vilagr situated in a hilly area belonging to the Sudety Range ( in the south- west of Poland ), with a low population density,dispersed development, and forming as prevalent occupation.Sewage is discharged into the recipient watercourse with no treatment whatsoever,thus polluting the Ścinawka River ( some part of its course covering the territory of the Czech Republic ).The polution load carried by the Ścinawka River contributes markedly to the guality of the drinking water supplied to the municipality of Wrocław.Making use of the proposed method,it was possible to make the optimum choice from three treatment plants offerred by three companies.The selected variant is best suited for settlements with a low poipulation density.
