The draft of the standard required by the Polish Drinking Water Directive for pesticides has specified the maximum admissible levels of 27 species.By now,12 out of the 27 pesticides have been recalled from the market.The probability of occurance in natural waters for the other 15 pesticides varies according to the type and acreage of the crop in the catchment area,and also according to the formula used by the manufacturer.This paper gives an account of the pest control products which ware in use in the district of Bydgoszcz(north of Poland) in 1995 and contained pesticide levels recommended by the Drinking Water Directive.The pesticides in question ware also analyzed for toxicity.
