W ostatnich latach przedsiębiorstwa funkcjonujące w wielu branżach stają przed wyzwaniem reagowania na wzrastający poziom indywidualizacji zapotrzebowania klientów.[1] Obserwowana tendencja jest określana mianem masowej customizacji (indywidualizacji) i polega z jednej strony na dostarczaniu produktów i usług, zaspakajających indywidualne potrzeby poszczególnych odbiorców, przy jednoczesnym utrzymaniu wysokiego poziomu efektywności działania firmy. W literaturze spotkać można wiele publikacji dotyczących problematyki masowej customizacji, lecz wciąż brakuje dostatecznej analizy narzędzi pozwalających na jej praktyczne wdrożenie w działalności przedsiębiorstw. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono możliwości zastosowania koncepcji postponement (odraczania) jako narzędzia masowej customizacji produktu w grupie przedsiębiorstw tworzących łańcuch logisty-czny.
