Abstrakty
The main subject of this work is investigation of the stress concentration in the nanogrid materials. The task is important for prediction of material behaviour under loading and exploitation conditions, when fatigue or wear play a crucial role. The cellular automata (CA) and digital material representation approaches are used to solve the mentioned problems. These methods allow reproducing the behaviour of nanogrid materials with specific characteristic features such as irregular shape of the boundaries in the adjacent coatings or specific microstructure properties. The developed CA model that simulates deposition process is presented. Based on this model the digital material is created and numerical simulations of material behavior under loading conditions are performed. The digital representation is helpful in the realistic description of the multilayered character of specimen with the specific shape of the coatings. The stress and strain distributions are investigated. These results are supported by the experimental data including ball-on-disk test and TEM (Transmission Electron Microscope) observations.
