The following paper contains new ULCOS breakthrough technologies in combating climate change. ULCOS (Ultra Low CO2 Steelmaking) is the world’s most ambitious research and development initiative to reduce Carbon dioxide emissions by 50 % by 2050 compared with today’s best routes from steel production by developing new breakthrough technologies. This project is coordinated by ArcelorMittal. ULCOS is today the largest endeavour within the steel industry worldwide proactively looking for solutions to the threat of global warming.

W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono europejski program ULCOS (Ultra Niska Zawartość CO2 w Produkcji Stali), mający na celu redukcję o połowę CO2 emitowanego podczas produkcji stali. ArcelorMittal koordynuje ten program. ULCOS to przykład pierwszego globalnego projektu Europejskiej Platformy Technologicznej Stali mającego znacznie zmniejszyć emisje CO2. Jest to obecnie największe przedsięwzięcie na świecie. Wybrano cztery nowe technologie w celu przeciwdziałania globalnemu ociepleniu.
