Kluczowe kategorie przyszłości w zarządzaniu to różnorodność i elastyczność, adaptatywność, zdolność do reagowania na otoczenie i ukierunkowanie na spełnienie oczekiwań klienta tak, aby powstające produkty i usługi satysfakcjonowały jego potrzeby. Złożoność technologiczna współczesnych systemów wytwarzania i zarządzania implikuje potrzebę posiadania wyższego poziomu wiedzy potrzebnej pracownikowi i zaangażowania multidyscyplinarnego. Przedsiębiorstwa działające w gospodarce opartej na wiedzy odczuwają potrzebę intensywnego wykorzystania szybko narastających rezultatów w nauce, technologii, organizacji i zarządzaniu oraz całego zakresu szczególnych umiejętności i dynamicznie rozwijających się kompetencji. W artykule przestawiono w ujęciu syntetycznym najważniejsze trendy w rozwoju teorii i praktyki współczesnego zarządzania.
