W artykule przedstawiono diagnozę stanu górnictwa węgla kamiennego w Polsce i na tym tle wskazano na konieczność dalszej realizacji reformy. Przed-stawiono założenia programu oraz cele realizacji reformy. Omówiono rozwiąza-nia przyjęte w programie reformy. Podano prognozę rynkową rozwoju sytuacji w górnictwie z wykorzystaniem instrumentów zaproponowanych w programie. Na zakończenie przedstawiono harmonogram realizacji reformy górnictwa wę-gla kamiennego w latach 1998-2002.

The article presents a diagnosis of the situation of hard coal mining industry in Poland and against its background it indicates to the necessity of further reali-sation of the reform. It presents the programme's assumptions and objectives of the reform's realisation. It discusses the solutions accepted in the programme of the reform. It gives the market forecast of the situation development m coal industry with utilisation of the instruments suggested in the programme. At the end the time-schedule of the realisation of the reform's programme of the hard coal industry during 1998-2002 is presented.
