Rozwój sieci inteligentnych zależy w głównej mierze od nowych rozwiązań technicznych. Wzrasta przekonanie, że koncepcja sieci inteligentnych obejmuje szereg inwestycji, mogących istotnie zmienić sposób dostarczania klientom usług energetycznych. Łańcuch wartości dodanych tworzy mnogość graczy, zainteresowanych nowymi rozwiązaniami infra-strukturalnymi. W świetle różnorodnych aspektów rozwojowych wyróżnić można osiem tendencji i obszarów, które istotnie wpływać będą na trajektorię postępu technologicznego w nadchodzących latach.

Development of the smart grid depends mainly on the new technology solutions. There is an emerging confidence that the smart grid embodies a set of technology investment that can transform the way service is delivered to customers. A wide variety of players have entered the smart grid value chain with material investments. In light of contracting developments, opportunities and challenges there are eight key trends and areas that will heavily influence on the development trajectory of progress in the next years.
