Obserwuje się narastający trend w kierunku przechodzenia z dokumentów papierowych w obrocie handlowym na dokumenty elektroniczne. Jedynie największe firmy mogły sobie pozwolić na korzystanie z korzyści wynikających z automatyzacji procesów finansowych i eliminacji papierowych transakcji. Obecnie ewolucja Internetu stwarza efektywną drogę rozwoju systemów elektronicznego obiegu dokumentów handlowych. W pracy tej omówiono zagadnienia zarządzania obrotem dokumentów, w szczególności handlowych. Przedstawiono zarys technik realizacji systemów elektronicznej prezentacji dokumentów handlowych i płatności z wykorzystaniem internetowego dostępu do dokumentów, oraz przedstawiono podstawowe modele systemów prezentacji dokumentów. Wskazano na kierunki rozwiązań właściwych dla mniejszych firm w oparciu o koncepcję konsolidatora.

There is an emerging trend towards electronic automation of financial processes. Currently, only large Tier 1 (Global 2000 and Fortune 1000) companies have been able to benefit from the automation of paper-based transaction systems due to their access to greater levels of capital and technology services. The Internet has become an effective pathway for the transfer of e-Business documents, and a promising way for Tier 2 and Tier 3 companies. In this paper technical is-sues related to electronic document presentment and payment are characterized. Leading technologies are described and technical solutions are presented. Basic models of electronic document presentment include seller direct, buyer direct and consolidator models. Suitability of a consolidator model for smaller companies has been underlined.
