The beginnings of Dzikow castle renovation

Abstrakty
Zamek Tarnowskich w Dzikowie, którego początki sięgają XV wieku, rozbudowany w XVII i XVIII wieku, po 1834 roku był rezydencją-muzeum, w którym ulokowano jedną z najwartościowszych polskich kolekcji. Rezydencja spłonęła w 1927 roku, po czym została odbudowana przez prof. Wacława Krzyżanowskiego w stylu wczesnego baroku. Po II wojnie .światowej użytkowany jako szkoła rolnicza, został doprowadzony niemal do ruiny. W roku 2007, dzięki .środkom z Funduszy Europejskich oraz miejscowego samorządu rozpoczęto kompleksową rewaloryzację zabytku z przeznaczeniem na siedzibę Muzeum Historycznego m. Tarnobrzega. I etap prac remontowych polegał na podbiciu fundamentów pod skrzydłem zachodnim pochodzącym z XV wieku oraz skrzydłem wschodnim wzniesionym w wieku XVIII. Korpus główny z XVII wieku należało zaopatrzy ć w fundamenty, których ta część zamku nie posiadała. Budując fundamenty postanowiono je zasklepić, tworząc w ten sposób nowy ciąg piwnic połączonych z komorami zlokalizowanymi pod skrzydłami bocznymi zamku. Odczyszczenie wtórnie otynkowanych wątków piwnic ciągnących się pod skrzydłem zachodnim potwierdziło ich .średniowieczną proweniencję. W skrajnej komorze południowej będącej podziemną kondygnacją wieży XV-wiecznego dworu stwierdzono istnienie motywu zendrówkowego. W komorze z XVII wieku będącej przedłużeniem piwnic średniowiecznych znaleziono fragment ceglanego fundamentu z XV wieku oraz nowożytnej bastei. Była ona częścią systemu obronnego rezydencji. Zbudowana w XVI wieku, w następnym stuleciu została częściowo wykorzystana jako jedna ze ścian wspierających sklepienie nowej piwnicy. Podczas prac ziemnych prowadzonych w trakcie remontu podziemnej kondygnacji zamku natrafiono na dwa dobrze zachowane kamienne nadproża portali. Analiza stylistyczna wskazuje, że pochodzą one z I połowy XVII wieku, tj. okresu budowy obecnego korpusu głównego zamku. Obydwa nadproża mają formy renesansowo-manierystyczne, przy czym jedno z nich, o wytwornej dekoracji, posiada medalion z wyobrażeniem głowy Dantego Aligieri. Po zakończeniu remontu piwnic i urządzeniu w nich ekspozycji muzealnej poświęconej historii zamku przystąpiono do remontu dachu i adaptacji poddasza, gdzie w przeszłości będą mieścić się pracownie i magazyny muzealne. Konieczna była wymiana części więźby dachowej oraz pokrycie całego dachu nową dachówką karpiówką. Istotnym elementem jest wzniesienie nowej klatki schodowej w skrzydle wschodnim, będącej zarazem rodzajem filara podtrzymującego nowe pomieszczenia na poddaszu. Remont dachu i adaptacja poddasza, które będą ukończone jeszcze w roku bieżącym, finansują Ministerstwo Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego oraz gmina Tarnobrzeg.
The castle of the Tarnowski family in Dzikow, dating back to the 15th century, was expanded in the 17th and 18th century and after 1834 served as a residence-museum which housed one of the most valuable Polish collections. The residence burnt down in 1927, but was rebuilt in the early Baroque style by Professor Wacław Krzyżanowski. After World War II, the building housed a school of agriculture and was almost completely ruined. In 2007, thanks to the financial resources from European Funds and local authorities a complex process of monument restoration began, in order to turn the castle into a new seat of the Historical Museum of Tarnobrzeg. The first stage of renovation work included digging foundations under the west wing dating back to the 15th century, as well as under the east wing erected in the 18th century. The main building from the 17th century also had to be provided with foundations which that part of the castle did not possess. While digging the foundations it was decided that they should be sealed up, thus creating a new row of cellars and joining them with the chambers located under the side wings of the castle. Cleansing the re-plastered brickwork of the cellars stretching under the west wing confirmed their medieval origin. In the outermost southern chamber, which was the underground floor of the tower of the 15th century mansion, a decorative ceramic- brick motif was discovered. A fragment of brick foundations from the 15th century and another of a modern wall tower were found in the chamber from the 17th century, which was an extension of medieval cellars. The wall tower constituted a part of the defensive system of the residence. Erected in the 16th century, in the next century it was partially used as one of the walls supporting the roof of the new cellar. During the excavation work conducted during the renovation of the subterranean floor of the castle, two well-preserved stone lintels were discovered. Stylistic analysis indicated that they date back to the first half of the18th century, so the period when the main building of the present castle was built. Both portal lintels represent Renaissance . Mannerist forms and one of them, decorated in a refined manner, has a medallion with the image of Dante Alighieri's head. After finishing the renovation work in the cellars and furnishing them to house a museum exhibition depicting the castle history, renovation of the roof and adaptation work on the attic started, where museum workshops and storage rooms will be located in the future. It was necessary to replace a part of rafter framing and cover the whole roof with new tiles. The construction of a new stairwell in the east wing, which will also serve as a kind of pillar supporting the new rooms in the attic, will be a major undertaking. The renovation of the roof and adaptation of the attic, which are to be completed this year, are financed by the Ministry of Culture and National heritage and the district of Tarnobrzeg.
