W artykule przedstawiono najważniejsze informacje dotyczące techniki transmisji danych w kanale głosowym GSM, tzw. in-band modem opracowanej z myślą o systemie automatycznego powiadamiania o wypadkach drogowych - eCall. Technika ta została opracowana przez amerykańską firmę Qualcomm i umożliwia realizację transmisji tzw. Minimalnego Zestawu Danych (MSD - Minimum Set of Data), a także prowadzenie rozmowy między osobami poszkodowanymi, znajdującymi się w pojeździe, który uległ wypadkowi, a dyspozytorem w centrum ratunkowym. Przedstawiony opis sposobu transmisji opiera się na dokumentach standaryzacyjnych stowarzyszenia 3GPP. Dzięki standaryzacji każdy pojazd wyposażony w urządzenie pokładowe eCall będzie mógł nawiązać połączenie z centrum powiadamiania ratunkowego na terenie całej Europy.

This article presents key information about the so-called in-band modem technique, which is a solution for data transmission in the GSM voice channel. This technology was developed by the USA-based company Qualcomm purely for the purpose of the eCall system. It substantially simplifies the Minimum Set of Data (MSD) transmission process and at the same time it supports a verbal communication between the people injured in the accident and the dispatcher in a rescue center. The in-band modem technical description provided in this article is mostly based on the relevant standardization documents created by the 3GPP. Thanks to the standardization, each and every vehicle equipped with an on-board eCall device will be able to connect with the emergency center throughout Europe.
