Corrosion of mild steel in media with mould fungi and inhibitors action against Aspergillus niger

The microbial activity is one of principle factors of metallic and non-metallic materials destruction. Mould fungi are of particular interest as metal destroying microorganisms. Four kind of mould fungi (Aspergillus niger, Penieillium ehrysogenum, Penicillium charlissii and Phialophora fastigiata) are studied as mild steel corrosion promoters. Micellium development and corrosion activity in the ease of Asp. niger are the greatest. Nine organic compounds pertaining to one and the same homolo-gous series were tested as steel corrosion and hydrogen absorption inhibitors and the relation between (OC) molecular struc-ture and efficiency of OC as fungicide and as inhibitors of steel corrosion and hydrogen absorption is determined .
