At the beginning of its activity GŁOGÓW Copper Foundry emitted large quantities of pollutants causing changes of agricultural ecosystem in its surroundings. In this region 60-70 % of crops are cereals. Scentless mayweed (Tripleurospermum indorum) poses the most serious threat to winter wheat. The aim of this work was to determine if biotypes of T. indorum which grow for many years in polluted environment show any differences with respect to copper tolerance or any differences in the effectiveness of herbicides' control. In the greenhouse conditions the effectiveness of three herbicides with different mode of action were studied. They were pendimethalin - inhibitor of growth, isoproturon - inhibitor of photosynthesis and rimsulfuron - inhibitor of amino acids' synthesis. Populations of T. indorom nowadays grown in the contaminated environment of the Silesia region show similar reaction to tested herbicides as those from the Wielkopolska region. It seems that enhanced tolerance of weed to copper does not influence the effectiveness of tested herbicides.
