The main sources of Campylobacter

Abstrakty
Częstość izolowania i liczebność wskazują na zwierzęta stałocieplne jako źródło Campylobacter. Głównym źródłem Campylobacter jest drób. Bezobjawowymi nosicielami Campylobacter są też dzikie ptaki, zwierzęta rzeźne, psy, koty, gryzonie i owady. Stuprocentowe nosicielstwo Campylobacter dotyczy zwierząt o stadnym trybie życia korzystających z różnych, często przypadkowych, źródeł pożywienia. Masowa skala hodowli zwierząt i produkcji żywności pochodzenia zwierzęcego dostarcza odpadów mogących stanowić bogate źródło Campylobacter w środowisku naturalnym. Sprzyja wzrostowi nosicielstwa u zwierząt ze swobodnym dostępem do takich środowisk. Przyczynia się także do zanieczyszczeń wtórnych środowiska produkcji i dystrybucji żywności.
Isolation frequency and quantity point out at the warm-blooded animals as the source of Campylobacter, with poultry being the main source. The carriers of Campylobacter being also among wild birds, meat animals, dogs, cats, rodents and insects. Carriers of Campylobacter in 100% are gregarious animals using various, frequently incidental, sources of nutrition. Large scale of animal breeding and food production of animal origin are sources of large amounts of by-products possibly rich source of Campylobacter in natural environment. These sources favor increase in carrier rate among animals with free access to such environments. It also creates various routes to secondary contamination of food production environment and food distribution chain.
