The capabilities of computer analysis in optimisation and diagnostics of technical objects such as power industry turbosystems are indicated in the work. Based on the developed dynamical models of such objects an analysis of the influence of selected design parameters on the statistic and dynamic properties of the object has been conducted. Presented examples refer to real objects operating in Poland and abroad, and the conclusions stemming from the conducted analysis have been implemented in practice. This fact indicates undoubtedly the possibilities of application of advanced computer analysis in exploitation of such large technical objects. In the work presented is also a general discussion on the constraints linked to the modelling and mathematical description of different objects, not only of the power industry type.
