EN

The instantaneous complex frequency is derived for the sum of two harmonic signals. It is shown that the real and imaginary parts of the complex instantaneous phase and frequency are Hilbert pairs. For equal amplitudes the instantaneous angular frequency differs from the mean value of both frequencies by a periodic sequence of delta functions.
