Electroplating of Ni-B coatings can be an alternative for conventional technology of chromium plating based on the use of concentrated solution of high toxic chromic acid. The nickel plating bath with a low concentration of nickel ions (0.76 mol/cubic dm), the antistressed and brightening compounds, the surfactants and the dispersed particles were used for deposition of the composite electrolytic coatings. The particles content in coatings was determined gravimetrically. Wear resistance of Ni-B coatings were tested without lubrication using the measuring system comprising flat surface and a ball. On the basis of the wear traces and measurement of their diameter, the depth of wear was calculated., which was the measure of wear resistance. The influence of annealing of Ni-B coatings on their wear resitance was also tested. The annealing was carried out at the temperatures of 573 and 773 K in air atmosphere during 1 H. The wear resistance of the obtained nickel composite coatings was higher than those of nickel coatings without boron content.
