W dniach od 29 września do 1 października 2003 r. odbyło się w Krakowie X już Seminarium naukowe pt. "TWORZYWA SZTUCZNE W BUDOWIE MASZYN" organizowane regularnie od 30 lat (co trzy lata) przez Katedrę Mechaniki Doświadczalnej i Biomechaniki Instytutu Mechaniki i Podstaw Konstrukcji Maszyn Politechniki Krakowskiej. Celem Seminariów jest prezentacja aktualnych osiągnięć i dorobku naukowego polskich środowisk akademickich zajmujących się problematyką przetwórstwa i zastosowań tworzyw polimerowych w technice. Ze względu na szczególny, jubileuszowy charakter tegorocznego Seminarium, pierwsza sesja plenarna poprzedzona została sesją trzech wykładów prelekcyjnych. Sesję prelekcyjną X Seminarium zainaugurował prof. zw. dr hab. inż. Robert Sikora Kierownik Katedry Procesów Polimerowych Politechniki Lubelskiej wykładem pt. "ASPEKTY FORMALNE W PRZETWÓRSTWIE I STOSOWANIU TWORZYW POLIMEROWYCH". Obszerne streszczenie wykładu prof. Roberta Sikory, w opracowaniu redakcyjnym przedstawiono poniżej.

Scientific Seminar on "Plastics in machine building" is organised regularly from 30 years (every third year) by the Department of Experimental Mechanics and Biomechanics of the Institute of Mechanics and Elements of Machine Construction of Kraków University of Technology. The Xth issue of the Seminar took place in Kraków on 29th of September till 1st of October 2003. The main aim of the Seminar is presentation of current achievements and scientific development of Polish representatives of academia dealing with plastics processing and application of plastics in technology. Due to specific, jubilee issue of the Seminar, the first plenary sesion was preceded by three lectures. This pre-plenary session was inaugurated by the lecture of Prof. Dr hab. Eng. Robert Sikora - the Head of the Department of Polymer Processes of Lublin University of Technology entitled "Formal aspects in processing and application of plastics". A comprehensive abstract (editorial version) of Prof. Robert Sikora lecture is presented below.
