Influence of various parameters on the air separation process by magnetic membranes

This paper is a continuation of the work on polymer membranes filled with magnetic powder and magnetized (magnetic membranes) used for an air enrichment. Membranes of various polymer matrices (ethylcellulose (EC) and poly(2,6-dimethyl-l,4-phenylene oxide) (PPO)) with different types (ferrite, praseodymium and neodymium) and granulation (20-32 um, 32-50 urn) of dispersed magnetic powder were cast in an external magnetic field. All these membranes were examined for Nj, O; and air permeability in the experimental setup. It was found that granulation and amount of added magnetic powder remarkably influence the gas transport properties of analyzed magnetic membranes. Almost 63 % of oxygen enrichment through PPO magnetic membrane with dispersed praseodymium magnetic powder (magnetic induction 2.76 mT in the magnetic membrane cell) was obtained
