Synthesis and oxygen-barrier properties of new block copolymers

A scries of novel poly(cthylcnc tcrcphthalate)-ran-poly(cthylcnc naphthalatc)-WocA-poly(tctramcthylcnc oxide) (PET-ran-PEN-Woc/v-PTMO) segmented block copolymers were synthesised by transcsterification in the melt of dimethyl tcrephthalatc, dimethyl 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylatc, ethylene glycol and poly(tctramcthylcnc oxide) glycol (PTMO, 1000 g/mol). A range of multiblock copolymers were synthesized, with flexible PTMO segments contents of 50 wt %. The novel poly(ether-Woc/r-cster)s were characterized by viscometry, hardness measurements, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), tensile properties and specific barrier properties.
