Abstrakty
By interfacial estcrification of sucrose with mcthacryloyl chloride an ester derivative of sucrosc - mcthacryloyloxysucrose containing vinyl side groups was prepared. The orginal sucrose and methacrylated sucrosc were characterized by FTIR, 'H NMR, 13C NMR and DSC. The methacrylated sucrosc with degree of substitution (DS=6.5) was polymerized in solution using 2,2-azobisisobutyronitryle as initiator and by photopolymerization in solid state to obtain a cross-linked product. The methacrylated sucrose was used as new cross-linker to cross-link poly(2-hydroxycthyl methacrylate). The influence of the amount of cross-linking agent on the swelling behaviour of these hydrogels was studied.
