Almost 40% of decisions made by the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection in 2010 were related to the water and wastewater sector. On 29th November 2010, a public debate concerned with this area of business was held in the Office, due to an extensive number of irregularities observed within the water and wastewater trade. Since the standpoint of the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection regarding the working principles within this sector and based on the effective regulations diverged from the opinions issued by the practitioners, it seemed necessary to systematize certain notions and indicate regulations that strictly define the working principles in the water and wastewater trade. Competition and Consumer Protection in the sector of water and wastewater in Poland on the basis of the case law of the President of the Competition and Consumer Protection Office discussed in the report of the Competition and Consumer Protection Office published in November 2011.
