PL

Artykuł przedstawia przegląd piśmiennictwa dotyczącego skutków zdrowotnych, wynikających z kontaktu ze ściekami komunalnymi. Scharakteryzowano najczęściej spotykane dolegliwości u pracowników oczyszczalni, wśród których dominują bóle głowy, podrażnienia gardła i nosa, biegunka. Pracownicy oczyszczalni mogą wykazywać zmniejszenie wydolności płuc ze względu na narażenie na endotoksyny. Ponadto istotnym zagrożeniem dla pracowników mogą być choroby zakaźne, w tym szczególnie wirusowe zapalenie wątroby typu A, B i C. Długotrwały kontakt ze ściekami może wpływać także na wzrost zachorowalności na nowotwory krtani, wątroby i żołądka.

The article describes the review of literature about health effect of exposure to harmful agent from wastewater. There was characterized the most often complaints reported by wastewater treatment plant workers, with dominant headaches, irritations of throat, nose and diarrhea. Wastewater treatment plant workers can show also decrease of lung function due to exposure to endotoxin. Moreover, important hazards to wastewater treatment plant workers are infectious diseases, especially hepatitis, A, B and C. Longitual contact with sewage can also increase the incidence of cancers, mainly of larynx, liver and stomach.
