Praca przedstawia wyniki badań i wnioski z przeprowadzonego eksperymentu grawitacyjnego przepływu ziaren łubinu i żyta w płaskim modelu silosu.W czasie przepływu badanych ośrodków ziarnistych zaobserwowano formowanie się stref zastoju. Eksperyment przeprowadzono w modelu silosu z możliwością profilowania jego kanału wypływu.

Some results of research of gravitational flow of lupine and rye in a flat model of silo are presented in paper. An accurence of dead zones was observed in the model. The fill height was 660 mm. The width of the channel was constant - 200 mm. Relatively large dead zones were observed and the flow was of the funnel character. The geometry of dead zones appeared to be especially complicated when the shape of the channel was changed into three different forms. In the paper the contours of dead zones and free surfaces corresponding to consecutive phases of the flow of lupine and rye are given. These may aid in proper design of hoppers. It was stated that the size of dead zones depends on the quantity of material in the hopper, the channel geometry and the friction forces.
