Abstrakty
Intermetallic matrix composites (IMCs) reinforced with ceramic particles (carbides, oxides, borides) have been widely investigated for many years due to their good mechanical properties. IMCs typically have matrices based on various ordered aluminides, e.g. FeAl or NiAl. IMCs are produced by different methods like ingot metallurgy, powder metallurgy, rapid solidification, reactive sintering, mechanical alloying (MA) or mechanical milling (MM) [3]. The aim of our studies was to prepare by mechanical milling nanocrystalline powders of NiAl + TiC with high content of ceramic phase and to consolidate these powders trying to preserve the nanocrystalline structure of both phases (intermetallic and carbide), obtained after mechanical milling. Some properties of the composites, such as density and hardness, were measured.
