The mixture of the ?-Al2O3 and 40 wt.% of TiO2 (rutile) powders, 10-80 žm grade, was plasma sprayed on the Ni-20Cr-5Fe-2Al substrate, after generation of the Ni-25Cr-5Al-1Ti interlayer on the surface. The material was annealed at 1500 K for 10 hours. The microstructure and composition of the phases was analyzed on the cross-sections with the use of TEM (Philips CM 20) with EDX systems. A multilayer structure composed of alternative Al oxide and Ti solid solutions sub-layers was revealed. The sub-layers were composed of columnar crystals of different titanium solid solution composition, or of ?-Al2O3 phase. In direct contact with the substrate the sub-layer composed of Al2TiO5 and Al2Ni3 phases was found. Three compositions of Ti solid solutions were found: Tix(Al2O3)y, Ti(O) and Ti(Al,O).
