Ceramic pigmenat are non-organic chemical compounds. They should posses two basic kinds of properties related to colouring: power and high intensity of colour, respectively. Red colour is often used in a decorating of classic ceramic tiles, however the number of pigment for obtaining of red colour is considerably limited. The information about new pigments with intensive red colour for ceramic bodies, also for gres porcellanato, appeared in literature lately. They are based on the compounds with perovskite and cerium oxide structure, not used in ceramic technology up to now. The state-of-art for the red pigments for high temperature firing is presented with discussion of new perspectives.
