Electronic structure in copper oxide superconductors investigated by scanning tunneling spectroscopy.

Abstrakty

We report the result of the scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy as well as atomic force microscopy measurements on the Nd2-xCexCuO4-y (NCCO) and PrBa2Cu3O7-x (PrBCO) single crystals. Using the scanning tunneling spectroscopy we were able to estimate the widths of the semiconducting gaps of the single crystals which were after a high temperature reduction in Ar. The characteristic features of reduced single crystals in normal state are also discussed.
