Abstrakty

The paper presents results of investigations on sintering composites materials based on alumina with hard titanium phases. The mixture of alumina, titanium carbide and titanium nitride were compacted and sintered in vacuum at the temperature of 1970K. The specimens were examined by means of an Optical Microscope with Nomarski's lens, connected to a video camera, as well as Scanning Electron Microscope equired with an EDAX, and finally Atomic Force Microscope. There found diffusion processes of elements towards the surface of the specimens and between phases during vacuum sintering as well as partial decomposition of some phases.
