The intensive twinning and crystal break-up into deformation bands occurred during cold rolling of a Cu-5%Al single crystal with the initial orientation (100)[011]. Due to rotation of the initial orientation and intensive twinning large areas with the {110}<001> orientation were formed close to the rolled surfaces. Relatively uniform microstructure consisted of mutually intersecting dislocation bands featured areas of such orientation. Shear bands appeared close to the central layer of the rolled material in the regions with the large density of deformation twins parallel to the rolling plane. Cells composing shear bands had usually orientations near {110}<001>.
