Abstrakty
The effect of aging time and environment at 600 degrees centigrade on room temperature properties of 316-type stainless steel has been investigated. The annealing in vacuum results in a discontinuous yielding of specimens while specimens annealed in air yield in a continuous way. The annealing in vacuum significantly increases the flow stress, while does not change the work hardening rate in the range of microscopically uniform deformation.
