This paper presents some results of low alloy Cr-Mo steels investigations of fracture mechanisms after long term operating of power plant components at creep conditions. The investigations were carried out on samples of low alloy 1Cr-0,5Mo steels taken from various locations in boiler installations after long term service at 490 - 540 degrees centigrade. The residual life time of 1Cr-0,5Mo type steel was estimated and typical models of cavity nucleation and further microcrack growth at elevated temperature were described.
