Adequateness of the Mossbauer spectroscopy in the investigation of (a) formation of the rho phase and (b) the phase separation into the iron rich (alpha) and the chromium rich (alpha') phases, the main two microscopic reasons for enhanced hardness and brittleness, will be presented and discussed.
