The paper presents results of research on the impact of gasoline components properties on the distillation characteristics of Ethanol (E85) automotive fuel. The samples of E85 contained: ethanol from 50% (V/V) to 80% (V/V) and hydrocarbon component from 20% (V/V) to 50% (V/V). Catalytically cracked gasoline, reformate, isomerizate and gasoline with ethyl-tert-butyl ether were used as the hydrocarbon component in the experimental samples E85. The research result showed that the distillation characteristics of samples E85 depend mainly on two factors: the composition of gasoline components and the quantity of ethanol added to the hydrocarbon component. The formation of ethanol-hydrocarbon azeotropic mixtures was an important phenomenon influencing the behavior of the distillation curves of E85.
