Reguły wykute w marmurze trwają zwykle znacznie krócej niż kamień, który je niesie. Są jak lista instrukcji, program, który ma kontrolować przebieg procesu, produkcję poprawnych kopii produktu przy każdym uruchomieniu. Jednak fragmenty instrukcji mogą zostać zmienione. I, w rzeczywistości, zawsze tak jest. Program "Witruwiusz" był zmieniany setki razy. Taki oryginalny program dziś już nie istnieje. Jednak jest coś, co musi istnieć zawsze: maszyna, która wykonuje program. Każdą możliwą wersję programu. Maszyna replikująca musi być uniwersalna i wieczna. Tą maszyną jest architekt.

Principles carved in marble do not usually last that long as the stone that carries them. They are like a set of instructions, a software, that is meant to control the flow of the process to assure production of correct copies of a product each time it is set to run. But every single piece of a command sequence may be altered. And, actually, after a time, it always is. The original program "Vitruvius" has been altered hundreds of times. It does not exist any more. But, there always has to be a machine to perform a program. Every possible version of a program. A replicating machine that has to be universal and everlasting. That machine is an architect.
