In the article the most important legal acts concerning reduction of greenhouse gas emission, among others regulations in range of system of trading with GHG emission permission in the Community, were briefly discussed. Subsequently, the main refinery greenhouse gas emission sources in the refineries were presented, i.e. burning fuels used both in process installations and in steam and electric energy generation of catalyst regeneration. The article also discusses the capability of reducing the refinery GHG emission in comparison to simultaneous, anticipated increase of emission, mainly due to tightening up qualitative requirements for produced fuels.

W artykule omówiono ważniejsze akty prawne dotyczące ograniczania emisji gazów cieplarnianych, w tym regulacje w zakresie wspólnotowego systemu handlu uprawnieniami do emisji - EU ETS.
